What a URL slug is
A slug is the readable part of a URL that identifies a page, such as cara-membuat-website. Descriptive slugs help people understand a link, but they are only one small part of SEO.
Hyphen versus underscore
Hyphens are the recommended word separator for URLs. Underscores are supported for systems that require them, but they are less readable in links.
Unicode and accents
With accent normalization enabled, supported Latin diacritics are decomposed and removed, so Café Crème becomes cafe-creme. Characters that cannot be converted to the ASCII mode are reported instead of silently disappearing.
Frequently asked questions
Does this check whether a URL is available?
No. It only generates text. It does not contact any domain or CMS.
Why did my non-Latin text disappear?
The MVP default is ASCII slug mode. Unsupported characters are counted and a warning is shown. A Unicode slug mode would need platform-specific rules.
Are numbers preserved?
Yes by default. Disable the option only if numbers should be removed from the slug.
