Excel IF Formula Generator
Turn grade bands into a nested IF or IFS formula for Excel and Google Sheets, with a comma or semicolon separator.
Bands and formulas are generated locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Grade bands
Build an Excel or Google Sheets formula that turns a score into a letter grade. Rows are sorted from the highest score down; the first match wins.
Bands
Generated formula
Paste the formula into the cell next to your first score, then fill it down. Labels with quotation marks are escaped for Excel.
How the formula generator works
Each band has a minimum score and a label. The formula checks the score against the highest minimum first, so overlapping bands never produce the wrong grade. Nested IF is the most compatible form; IFS is shorter in modern Excel and Google Sheets.
Before you paste
Use the same separator your spreadsheet expects: comma for en-US, semicolon for many European and Indonesian locales. Scores must be numbers in the referenced cell; text values fall through to the final label.
